Publication Ethics

At the Journal of Economic, Finance Research and Review (JEFRR), we uphold the highest international standards of publication ethics to foster a transparent, trustworthy, and scholarly environment for authors, reviewers, editors, and readers. Our ethics policy is guided by established best practices set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and leading journals in economics and finance.

Core Ethical Principles

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Authors must properly cite all sources and ensure their work is free from all forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and data fabrication.

  • Reporting Standards: Research findings must be reported honestly, accurately, and with sufficient detail to enable reproducibility. Deliberate falsification, misrepresentation, or omission of data is strictly prohibited.

  • Authorship & Contributions: All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. The order of authorship must reflect contributions, and all authors must approve the final version.

  • Multiple or Redundant Publication: Manuscripts should not be submitted or published in more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate submissions are considered unethical and will result in immediate rejection.

  • Acknowledgment and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal interests that could influence their work and acknowledge all sources of funding or significant contributions.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fair Evaluation: Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope, without discrimination based on gender, race, affiliation, or personal characteristics.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff will keep all details about submitted manuscripts confidential and will not use unpublished information for personal gain.

  • Ethical Oversight: Editors are vigilant for ethical misconduct. Suspicious cases are investigated thoroughly and handled according to COPE guidelines.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality & Objectivity: Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and assess manuscripts impartially, providing constructive, unbiased feedback.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: If reviewers identify missing citations or potential ethical issues, they should inform the editorial team promptly.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must recuse themselves from manuscripts where there is a conflict of interest.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • Guardianship of the Scholarly Record: JEFRR ensures the long-term preservation of published work and maintains the integrity of the academic record.

  • Editorial Independence: Editorial decisions are entirely independent of commercial or financial interests.

  • Investigation of Misconduct: Allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism or research fraud, will be investigated promptly and transparently. Outcomes may include retraction, correction, or notification to relevant institutions.

Ethical Compliance and Misconduct

  • Plagiarism Screening: All manuscripts undergo plagiarism checks using reliable detection tools before peer review. Any text similarity above acceptable thresholds will result in investigation and possible rejection.

  • Corrections and Retractions: Substantial errors discovered post-publication will be corrected or retracted in accordance with COPE best practices.

  • Appeals: Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions by providing clear, evidence-based justifications.

Inclusivity and Transparency

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusive language in all submissions, communications, and editorial practices. The journal provides clear, accessible information about all policies, licensing, and archiving on its website for transparency and accountability.

By submitting to JEFRR, all parties agree to abide by this Publication Ethics Policy, supporting the advancement of credible, high-quality international scholarship in economics and finance.
