Reproducibility Policy

The Journal of Economic, Finance Research and Review (JEFRR) is committed to promoting research transparency, credibility, and trust by upholding the principles of reproducibility. We require authors, reviewers, and editors to work together to ensure that published findings in economics and finance can be independently verified and built upon by others in the scholarly community.

What Is Reproducibility?

Reproducibility means that independent researchers can achieve the same results as reported in a study when given access to the same data, methods, and analytical processes. It is a cornerstone of scientific integrity and essential for advancing cumulative knowledge and policy-relevant insights.

Key Principles for Reproducible Research

1. Data Availability

  • Raw and Processed Data: Authors should make the datasets underpinning their research findings publicly available wherever possible, unless restricted by confidentiality or legal considerations.

  • Data Statement: Every submission must include a "Data Availability Statement" that explains where and how the data can be accessed (e.g., repository name, DOI, or contact process).

  • Exceptions: If data sharing is not possible (due to confidentiality, legal, or proprietary constraints), authors must clearly explain these restrictions in their statement.

2. Code and Methods Transparency

  • Access to Code: Authors are encouraged to share analysis scripts, code, and computational tools used in their research via a trusted public platform or as supplementary files. At minimum, detailed methodological descriptions should allow replication of all results.

  • Documentation: All methods, including data cleaning, statistical analyses, and computational procedures, must be described in detail to permit repetition by third parties.

3. Reporting Standards

  • Comprehensive Reporting: Studies should clearly report all variables, models, sample criteria, and analytical choices, including omitted analyses or robustness checks where appropriate.

  • Supplementary Materials: Authors are encouraged to include supplemental files that enhance understanding and verification of the study (e.g., additional tables, sensitivity analyses, survey instruments).

4. Open Science Practices

  • Encouraged Practices: JEFRR supports pre-registration of studies, sharing of pre-analysis plans, and submission of replication studies or commentaries.

  • Peer Review: Editors and reviewers may request access to data or code during the review process to validate results and integrity.

5. Ethical and Legal Compliance

  • Privacy and Rights: Author obligations to preserve confidentiality, comply with data protection laws, or contractual limitations are respected. Authors must disclose any limitations on sharing in their data availability statement.

  • Third-Party Content: Use of third-party datasets or software must follow all licensing terms, with permissions documented as needed.

Recognition and Incentives

  • Manuscripts meeting robust standards for data and code transparency may be flagged as “Reproducibility Enhanced” in publication.

  • JEFRR may highlight reproducibility best practices and exemplary papers in editorial features or special sections.

Policy Review and Compliance

This reproducibility policy is reviewed and updated regularly to reflect evolving expectations, technological advancements, and international scholarly standards. Authors are responsible for adhering to these requirements and may contact the JEFRR editorial office for clarifications or guidance.

Upholding reproducibility is central to JEFRR’s mission—strengthening the foundation of economic and finance research by enabling others to verify, extend, and apply your findings for a more transparent, reliable, and impactful scientific record.
